Insecure border keeps ranchers exposed to dangerous criminals
“Eight Miles from the Line” by Leo Banks, RANGE Magazine summer 2015 issue
A southern Arizona border rancher’s surveillance camera catches dope smugglers ransacking his house. The same smugglers broke into a hunter’s RV the next day and stole a Glock 9 mm handgun. They were arrested and set free in Mexico within a month without facing criminal prosecution, despite one of them having a history of similar arrests on both sides of the border.
In June, ICE revealed that between 2010 and 2014, 121 criminal aliens released by the government were later charged with homicide.
